Xenomorph Rex - Game Art

Hey there! I bet you recognize this creature from a few years back! The 3D illustration first graced the internet in mid-2015, and a year later, a game-ready model strutted its stuff using the interactive Marmoset Viewer. Fast forward a couple of years, and I had a little epiphany while scrolling through my feed: Marmoset Viewer might not be the safest option out there. So, I decided to take down this portfolio piece, and it’s been hiding in the shadows ever since—until now, that is but in a form of video!

A couple of quick notes: most of this piece still holds up, even after all these years. The textures are a bit rough around the edges (remember, this was 2016!), and I textured them all in Photoshop. This was one of the last two personal projects I tackled before learning to texture using Substance 3D Painter.

This was rendered in Marmoset Toolbag 4. Thanks to the guys in their discord server for helping me with the camera tricks and stuff.

Make sure to stick around till the end—there's a little surprise for all you, but be careful, its dark and scary out there!

Thanks for watching!
More to come!

Special thanks to Riccardo Morgia for giving me the idea, and to Muhammad Omar for introducing me Marmoset 4 and for teaching me tricks in rendering.
